RIP CURL WEST SUMBAWA PRO CONFIRMED

In June, Rip Curl will again bring the Coca-Cola Indonesian Surfing Championship tour to beautiful West Sumbawa for another 6-Star Prime-rated surfing event. After the success of the exciting inaugural event held last year in September, the world-class waves, the strong support of the West Sumbawa Government, and the helpful local surfing community made it an easy decision for Rip Curl to make the West Sumbawa Pro a permanent event on the Coca-Cola ISC Tour calendar.

From June 20th to 30th, Indonesia’s best surfers will make the cross-country trip to the still natural and yet to be explored area of West Sumbawa to battle it out for a total of 64 million Rupiah in prize money. The first place winner will receive 20 million Rupiah and 3,500 ISC championship points, making it one of the most desirable events on the tour. The event will be run in a mobile format in order to take full advantage of the great range of waves in the area. For those who will not be able to join the Rip Curl Search Team on this magnificent adventure, the Rip Curl West Sumbawa Pro will be covered by daily updates and photos from the scene on www.ripcurl.com and Rip Curl Asia’s Facebook site, as well as on www.isctour.com and the ISC’s Facebook site.

The Rip Curl West Sumbawa Pro typifies Rip Curl’s core concept of the Search. This concept has become the basic principle of the company, which is all about going out there and exploring to find out what is around the next corner and over the next hill. “ There are already a lot of surfing competitions in Bali, and considering the cost and the logistics involved it would be much easier to run the competition here. But Rip Curl is dedicated to always pushing the boundaries a little further and with the help of the West Sumbawa Government and the strong local surfing community; the West Sumbawa area represents a great opportunity for adventure and discovery.
